Bang! It happened so quick. And no, I wasn't driving. Then suddenly there were fire engines and police cars everywhere. Then a ride to Royal North Shore Hospital in an ambulance. Thankfully noone was badly hurt... just whiplash and bruising all around. God is good and gracious! And obviously, he's not done with me yet...
A few amusing (in hindsight) things happened that night:
1) The woman in the car in front had her door jammed shut due to the angle of incidence. This was subsequently reported to 000 as "trapped in car". The "trapped in car" code results in 3 fire engines and 5 police cars appearing on the scene and blocking off the entire Carlingford road. All it took was a simple crowbar to get her out - she was unhurt save aforemention injuries.
2) The tow truck guys arrived 4 mins after the accident. The police/fireys 15 mins and the ambos 18 mins after. And noone called the towies.
3) In hospital, they hooked us up to this ECG machine - the ones you see on movies that measure your heart rate by giving out a series of steady beeps. Helen's came undone and you get the resulting flat line and continuous alarm that happens when someone goes into cardiac arrest. This went on for about 5 minutes before someone came to check she was ok... bit worrying given its an emergency room.
Thank you to those of you who have been praying for us. God was really looking after us that night and in the aftermath. Praying now for speedy recovery and for Helen & Dave as they try to get their car road-worthy again.
